International Journal of Leadership in Public Services

Articles that add to our shared understanding and implementation of leadership skills

The International Journal of Leadership
in Public Services

Editors: Peter Gilbert, Valerie James and John Tatam
Frequency: Quarterly
Print ISSN: 1747-9886
Online ISSN: 2042-8642

Aims and scope
The International Journal of Leadership in Public Services includes
articles that add to our shared understanding and implementation of leadership skills and knowledge to strengthen and improve public services. The Journal welcomes both quantitative and qualitative research, alongside illuminating narratives on the effective exercise of leadership from any stakeholder within the complex systems that make up public services.

Leadership is now firmly centre stage in public services in the UK and internationally. Contemporary descriptions of effective leadership describe it as widely dispersed, unique to the context and task in hand, founded in the development of positive relationships, and firmly linked to improvement in outcomes.

There is no existing Journal that draws together the best of our international research and lived experience of leadership. This is the gap that The International Journal of Leadership in Public Services aims to fill.

Readership
The International Journal of Leadership in Public Services is vital for everyone involved in
leadership and the design and delivery of public services. It is a hugely valuable source
of information and intelligence for: chief executives, directors and managers; academics,
universities, colleges and business schools; NHS and primary care trusts; health boards; education; local authorities; local and central government; social care providers and organisations; private sector providers and emerging public/private sector collaborations; voluntary and third sectorand social enterprises; the police and fire services; service users and students.
