Pier Professional are industry leading publishers of healthcare and social care journals for UK and international practitioners, professionals and academics
Pier Professional was established in September 2009 and was originally Pavilion Journals, part of Pavilion Publishing Ltd.
As part of that heritage we have over 20 years of publishing experience and working in partnership with leading experts in healthcare and social care and academia across the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. Pier Professional is owned and managed by Chris Parker, founding partner of Pavilion Publishing Ltd, and Julie Gibson and Loretta Harrison, also both previously partners of Pavilion Publishing Ltd. Pier Professional strives to achieve the same aims that Pavilion set out to achieve over 20 years ago; to disseminate innovation and best practice across the healthcare and social care field. There are currently huge changes taking place in the field; integrated working, individualised care, quality, the ageing population to name but a few. We aim to ensure that the information we publish can assist in the learning and developments needed at this crucial time of change in both healthcare and social care.
Journal publishing is also undergoing major changes as the internet continues to adapt the way we access information and publishers and customers make the transition from print to electronic format. We continue to provide printed journals but also offer electronic formats for current and all back issues and increasingly provide licenses or multiple-access arrangements to organisations wishing to allow broad access to their staff or students.
Each of our healthcare and social care journals uniquely bridges the gap between research and practice, creating an arena where researchers, practitioners, academics, professionals and service users can exchange current ideas and learn from evidence-based material. All of our journals particularly focus on disseminating good practice and highlight clear implications for practice. Our healthcare and social care journals are edited by leading experts in their field and are supported by our publishing team and prestigious editorial boards comprising researchers, practitioners, policy-makers, users and carers. Pier Professional publishes in association with a range of prominent academic, research, policy and practice partners. We are always keen to work in partnership with organisations to develop new journal titles where there is a market gap. |
